With over 85 game development studios, 10 of which classified as major and/or international, an industry-wide revenue of USD588 million (2023), and highly accomplished and industry-integrated university programs, Malaysia has been a quiet leader in the Southeast Asia games industry for some time now.
Passion Republic is a shining example, boasting 16+ years of AAA experience, delivering 130+ titles with 25+ global partners. From feature support and co-development to full-cycle development, the studio specializes in cross-platform games across PC, and consoles. It is also the creator and publisher of GigaBash, with Tokusatsu collaborations including Ultraman, Godzilla, and Gamera -Rebirth-, spanning franchise collaborations and original IP development.
Join Jeremy Lam, Chair of the Hong Kong Game Developers Alliance and Co-founder and CEO of Hong Kong-based game studio Pixio, in conversation with four senior members from Passion Republic's 300-strong team, to explore what we can all learn from their — and Malaysia's — growth journey, starting from their roots in education and outsourced development to now working with global franchises and developing their own IP.
